A Real Wedding | Mr & Mrs Thompson

Newly Weds Mr & Mrs Thompson tied the knot at the end of May this year at the stunning Sneaton Castle! From a NYE Proposal to their dream castle wedding, Laura & Josh shared in their own words all of the details.

Tell us about your proposal?

Every year on Boxing day we jump on a plane and go somewhere for New Year. This year we decided to go to Barbados as it was still during Covid and restrictions were difficult to get into most countries. Josh proposed to me on New Year's Eve at the Beach over dinner, it was perfect! The proposal was due to take place on the 28th of December as Josh thought others may propose on New Year's Eve and he wanted it to be special...but I decided to go to the reception one morning and book a dinner on the beach for New Year's Eve therefore the proposal was change to this night... I rescheduled my own proposal without knowing! It couldn't have been better; the night was like a huge party with fireworks and music etc! It was the perfect night!

Tell us about your bridal party and how you came to choose them?

So within my bridal party I had 1 maid of Honour- my business partner/best friend, my Sister was my chief bridesmaid, I had 5 closest friends from school/my childhood, another bridesmaid is my close cousin and last but not least I had a flower girl. I couldn't have been more certain! I couldn't wait to get back from Barbados and ask them, I made them all special boxes to match the wedding theme and asked them all.

What made you choose your venue and tell us about your theme?

The day we got home from Barbados, Sneaton Castle had a wedding opening where our friend who is a magician was there for the day. We went along as we loved the sound of a traditional but modern wedding. We got there and we were sold! The castle was amazing, it was an old nunnery, I just loved the vibe throughout! The Chapel was beautiful, the ceilings were all painted, I just knew after tasting the food etc that this was to be our venue! So, they day after we arrived home from Holiday the wedding was booked! I was desperate for a bank Holiday Sunday wedding, it was available...so if was meant to be!

What was your favourite part of planning?
My favourite part of the planning had to be choosing my dress! It was such a special time and I loved keeping it a secret from everyone!

What was the hardest part of planning?
The hardest part was finding the time to do all the creative things, I am a very creative person, but these things take alot of time and on top of everyday life it was difficult to manage in the lead up... our house turned into some kind of craft workshop for a few weeks... but nevertheless, it all paid off on the day.

Bride’s Favourite moment on the day?
My favourite moment was the ceremony, it was so magical and fun. We sang a song (Is this Love- Bob Marley) during the ceremony, everyone stood and sang along, it just set the tone for the whole day!

Groom's favourite moment of the day?
Josh absolutely loved when I walked down the aisle (his words not mine)... I chose a song which he absolutely loved and he said it was just an overwhelming feeling seeing me walk down in my dress.

Tips for future couples?
A huge tip which everyone told us was to take time together throughout the day, we see quite a lot of each other on the day. But this was good to check in and speak about the day, I would certainly recommend doing this especially after the ceremony as it was so nice to ask about each other's mornings and how we were feeling.

Anything either of you would do differently?
We wouldn't change anything! Everything went so much to plan- we couldn't have been any happier!

Honeymoon plans if any?
We have just came home from our Mini moon- we visited Capri, Positano & Naples in Italy, it was a well-deserved break we both needed. We have flights booked for our Honeymoon on the 18th of December this year- we are heading to Florida, Miami & The Bahamas- we can't wait!

A review from Laura who chose our Chocolate Brown Multiway Dresses

‘Thank you so much for our gorgeous Bridesmaid dresses! The girls absolutely loved them! All styled differently they were definitely a hit! And everyone mentioned how amazing the colour of them were- they couldn’t have been any better’
