A Real Wedding | Mr & Mrs Relph

Introducing the new Mr & Mrs Relph! Miles & Sarah tied the knot last month on the 14th April and we were delighted when they agreed to share details of their special day in their own words! Engaged in 2020 at Disneyland Paris, our couple finally got their happily ever after!

Tell us about your proposal?

We booked a weekend away in Disneyland Paris. Miles had the ring in his pocket all day as we went on Space Mountain and upside down on rollercoasters, and it thankfully stayed there. We watched the fireworks show at the end of the evening and as we left he got down on one knee and proposed. I was in utter shock and froze. And then finally said yes.

Tell us about your bridal party and how you came to chose them?

I had 7 bridesmaids in the end. Which considering we had a small wedding, was a lot. But I couldn’t have done my day without them all by my side. They are all very different and I met them all in different ways but they are all amazing friends to me. They were so supportive on the day of my wedding I could not have asked for better bridesmaids. They wanted the day to be perfect and they done everything they could to make sure that happened. They all got on really well and we have a Bridesmaid Brunch booked in a few months time. 1 of them got married last year and 2 getting married this year and I’ll be bridesmaid for all (all in Lá Closet Dé Chánel Bridesmaid dresses)

What made you choose your venue and tell us about your theme?

So our theme was “Happily Ever After Party”. We only had parents, grandparents and bridesmaids at the ceremony so we kept it small, then we wanted a Celebration Party in the evening rather than a typical wedding with sit down meal.

The Kings Oak in Epping was the first place we visited and we said yes on that day. It reminded me of a Secret Garden as from the outside it looks like a pub and when you go in, it’s very fairytale! Which fitted with our theme. It looked so beautiful on the day, beyond our expectations. We had little touches of Disney around to fit with the theme and the venue just looked perfect.

What was your favourite part of planning?

I found the planning very hard as we had to cancel the wedding twice during lockdown. Then we had a baby 14 months before so it was hard to fit everything in. However, I would say getting all the little touches at the end. Little touches like our “Be Our Guest” Beauty & The Beast Guestbook and Cinderella shoe sign for our sandal's basket. Those little touches really made a difference on the day and made it feel very special. It’s a cliche but all the stress really is worth it on the day to see everything come together.

What was the hardest part of planning?

I felt like I had a never ending list that was never going to be completed. The hardest part was fitting everything around looking after a baby. In the last few months, every evening was ‘Wedmin’ and it became very stressful.

Bride’s Favourite moment on the day?

My favourite moment was when we were announced in to the venue. Our guests arrived at 6pm and we were announced in as ‘Mr & Mrs Relph’ shortly after. It was lovely seeing all our family & friends there and we got to go around the room and have a chat with everyone which was very special. We also decided to do a last dance as opposed to a first dance and this was another special moment.

Oh and the speeches…they were just so special! My Dad, Miles & his Dad all spoke and each speech was so unique and beautiful.

Groom’s favourite moment of the day?

I loved it all. I can’t pin point one moment as the whole day was special to me. I’m not someone that ever wanted a big wedding or thought I would enjoy the day but it was one of the best days of my life and I wanted to do it all over again once it was over.

Tips for future couples?

Take 5 minutes away from everyone to soak it all in as a couple and have that time together as you don’t end up getting much time together throughout the day.

I would also say savour every moment, but I think it’s impossible as you’re on such a high and it’s all very surreal. This is why I’m glad we had a great photographer and videographer so we can relive it all again.

Anything either of you would do differently?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. The most special part of the day was seeing how much love and happiness was in the room for us both.

Honeymoon plans if any?

We don’t have any yet. We are looking at having a long weekend away just us 2 and maybe a week away somewhere with our daughter later in the year.
