A Real Wedding | Mrs & Mrs Braid
This month we are delighted to share you with you Jenny and Kirstie’s special day! Our beautiful Brides married on the 2nd September this year at the stunning Colville Hall in Essex! So in their own words let's hear from the new Mrs & Mrs Braid!
When and where did you get engaged?
We got engaged 25th June 2021 on a beach in London (yes there is one).
Tell us about your proposal?
It was a recreation of one of our early dates which was a pub crawl along the thames. The first time we did the pub crawl we got lost on the beach in Wapping and got caught in the tide coming in and had to escape via a ladder!
For the proposal Jenny recreated the pub crawl... including getting lost on the beach (tide times considered this time) and proposed there. Kirstie being prepared had a ring on her "just in case" so we both walked away very happy and surprised (and with a ring each!)
Tell us about your bridal party and how you came to choose them?
Jenny's bridal party included her Best Man who she met at uni, and 4 close friends, 2 from School years and 2 from uni. I couldn't have had better people by my side on the big day and they planned an amazing hen do!!
Kirstie's bridal party included her Best Man, 3 sisters, and bridesman who was also our Master of Ceremonies. She has know her best man and bridesman for over half her life and they are both like brothers to her. It seemed fitting to included them along with her sisters on the big day.
What made you choose your venue and tell us about your theme?
It was the first wedding venue we saw, and we fell in love with the space and atmosphere the venue had. We looked at a few more and kept comparing it to the first venue so we had to go for it. It was a beautiful medieval estate with two amazing barns and amazing outdoor spaces that we could use!
Jenny comes from a Scottish Family and Kirstie from an Irish Family, so bringing the two together was the lead in our theme. That's why we chose Blue and Green as are our two main colours for the wedding. This worked well with the Scottish tartan and the dresses and suits we chose.
Both your favourite parts of wedding planning?
Kirstie enjoyed the table planning and picking tables names which were the pubs from our proposal pub crawl!
Jenny enjoyed making all the personalised games including corn hole and beer pong as well as designing the invites and all the other personal touches for the day.
Hardest part of wedding planning?
Separating 6kg of skittles into colours then putting them into test tubes in rainbow order for our table favours...
What was each of your favourite moments on the day?
For Kirstie it was seeing Jenny walking down the aisle.
Jenny found it harder to pick just one, of course seeing Kirstie at the end of the aisle was amazing but she also loved the bubble confetti and our first dance which really kicked the evening off!
Your tips for future couples?
Enjoy the journey, make it your day and bring the energy!
We were naturally so energetic and that rubbed off on all our guests, the best compliment we had was that it was 100% our wedding, all the little details made it ours.
Anything either of you would do differently?
We wouldn't change anything, the day was perfect!
Tell us about your honeymoon plans?
We are heading to South Africa and Mauritius in 2024 and cannot wait!
